Where is Port Canaveral located?
Port Canaveral is located on Florida's "Space Coast," approximately 45 miles east of Orlando. It's right next to the city of Cape Canaveral and the popular vacation destination of Cocoa Beach, and just a short drive from the Kennedy Space Center.
How long is the drive from Orlando Airport (MCO) to Port Canaveral?
The drive from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to the Port Canaveral cruise terminals typically takes between 45 to 60 minutes, depending heavily on traffic conditions along the Beachline Expressway (SR 528).
Can I go directly from my flight to the cruise ship on the same day?
Yes, this is very common. However, we strongly recommend scheduling your flight to land at MCO at least 4-5 hours before your cruise ship's scheduled departure time. This provides a safe buffer for potential flight delays, baggage claim, and travel time to the port.
What is there to do near Port Canaveral if I arrive a day early?
Arriving early is a great idea! The area is full of attractions. You can relax on the beaches of Cocoa Beach, visit the iconic Cocoa Beach Pier, or spend a day exploring the incredible history of space travel at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.
Is it better to fly into Orlando (MCO) or Sanford (SFB) for a Port Canaveral cruise?
Orlando International Airport (MCO) is significantly closer to Port Canaveral (approx. 45 miles). Sanford Orlando International Airport (SFB) is much further north (approx. 60 miles), resulting in a longer and more expensive transfer. We provide service from both airports to the port.
